Mushrooms

I DO NOT tell people to eat them as they are a fungus, they
contain cholesterol, and they are very porous, so
whatever is on them stays on them...like animal feces and pee...gross!!!

Many SDA doctors say they cause cancer as well.

They are not a fruit, nut, seed, grain, or vegetablethey are not FOOD...and they breathe like us not like other plants.

Mushrooms are not really food. I used to love them but now I stay away from them. Mushrooms are not safe to eat. Dr. Agatha Thrash said they are not a vegetable do not require photosynthesis and they are actually a mold. Mushrooms DO NOT require fresh air and sunlight to grow.

Fungus
From Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia
Phylogeny and Classification
Domain    Eukaryota
(Unranked)  Opisthokonta
Kingdom      Fungi

THE FUNGI (SINGULAR FUNGUS) ARE A KINGDOM OF EUKARYOTIC ORGANISMS. THEY ARE HETEROTROPHIC AND DIGEST THEIR FOOD EXTERNALLY, ABSORBING NUTRIENT MOLECULES INTO THEIR CELLSYEASTSMOLDS, AND MUSHROOMS ARE EXAMPLES OF FUNGI. THE BRANCH OF BIOLOGY INVOLVING THE STUDY OF FUNGI IS KNOWN AS MYCOLOGY.

Fungi often have important symbiotic relationships with other organisms. Mycorrhizal symbiosis between plants and fungi is particularly important; over 90% of all plant species engage in some kind of mycorrhizal relationship with fungi and are dependent upon this relationship for survival.[1][2] Fungi are also used extensively by humans: yeasts are responsible for fermentation of beer and bread, and mushroom farming and gathering is a large industry in many countries.

Fungi and bacteria are the primary decomposers of organic matter in almost all terrestrial ecosystems worldwide. There are an estimated 1.5 million species of fungi with around 70,000 of them having been described. Fungi are now thought to be more closely related to animals than to plantsand are placed with animals in the monophyletic group of opisthokontsFungi absorb their food while animals ingest it; also unlike animals, the cells of fungi have cell walls. For these reasons, these organisms are placed in their own kingdom, Fungi, or Eumycota.

The Fungi are a monophyletic group, meaning all varieties of fungi come from a common ancestor. The monophyly of the fungi has been confirmed through repeated tests of molecular phylogenetics; shared ancestral traits include chitinous cell walls and heterotrophy by absorption, along with other shared characteristics.

The Oudemansiella nocturnum mushroom eats wood.

Fungi were originally classified as plants, however they have since been separated as they do not fix their own carbon through chlorophyll based photosynthesis. Traditionally, they are considered heterotrophs, organisms that rely solely on carbon fixed by other organisms for metabolism. Cutting edge research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine suggests that at least some fungi have the capability to extract energy from ionizing radiation. They apparently accomplish this by using the pigment melanin in lieu of chlorophyll. Ekaterina Dadachova has been studying certain fungi that thrive near Chernobyl in the midst of ecological catastrophe. Her experiments demonstrated the surprising result that their growth is enhanced rather than undermined by radiation. Plans are underway to extend the investigation to other species of fungi.

Here is what an SDA doctor sent me...

In my mind, God gave us every herb bearing seed as food.  Mushrooms are not herbs bearing seeds.  They are like scavengers. They contain mycotoxins, which cause CANCER.  Here is part of an article on the subject.

Despite the longstanding use of dried mushrooms and mushroom extracts in traditional Chinese medicine, there is no scientific evidence to support the effectiveness of these preparations in the treatment of human disease. Consumers should evaluate assertions made by companies about the miraculous properties of medicinal mushrooms very critically. The potential harm caused by these natural products is another important consideration. In a more positive vein, the presence of potent toxins and neurotropic compounds in basidiomycete fruit bodies suggests that secondary metabolites with useful pharmacological properties are widespread in these fungi. Major investment in controlled experiments and objective clinical trials is necessary to develop this natural pharmacopeia. ª 2016 The Author. With so little critical study of the benefits of medicinal mushrooms, it is alarming that the potential harm done by these natural products has been neglected. A few studies suggest that any side effects of mushroom extracts are not serious (Klupp et al. 2015), but cases of food allergy, cheilitis (inflammation of the lips), flagellate erythema, and liver damage have been reported in the literature (Yuen et al. 2004; Mukai et al. 2006; Suehiro et al. 2007; Wanmuang et al. 2007; Goikoetxea, Fernandez-Benıtez, Sanz 2009; Girard & Bessis 2010). Contamination of harvested mushrooms by toxigenic fungi and bacteria is another concern for consumers (Ahmad et al. 2014).

We know mold in general is not good.  A friend of mine, said that when he cleaned out an air conditioner, it either had black mold or mushrooms in it.
