The Dangers of a High Protein Diet

You've probably heard about the sudden deaths of those who have gone on a high-protein, low-carbohydrate liquid diet to lose weight. These deaths are caused by irregular heart rhythms resulting from severe nutritional imbalances. But while these deaths are dramatic, there are many other chronic, disabling disorders that come from a high-protein diet. In fact, A HIGH-PROTEIN DIET IS TOXIC TO THE BODY! This diet taxes your liver, breaks down your body's own protein tissues, triggers a loss of calcium from your bones, and leaves behind toxic residues. Before your body manages to eliminate these residues, it is often damaged, becoming more susceptible to a variety of diseases including cancer and arthritis.

A high-protein diet also causes excessive calcium loss through the urine. People on a high-protein diet need large amounts of calcium to make up for the losses. With an extremely high-protein diet (140 grams a day), researchers found it was impossible to maintain calcium balance-regardless of how much extra calcium one
ingested
!

Too much protein causes harmful amounts of ammonia to accumulate in the body, and ammonia has been shown to slow the growth of cells in a cell culture. It seems clear that ammonia will slow the growth of normal cells, but hardly affects the growth of cancer cells - apparently giving the cancer cells an advantage!

For the elderly, a high-protein diet is particularly detrimental since they may easily lose bone matrix, resulting in osteoporosis, or thinning of the bones. Then, too, there's the loss of calcium, iron, zinc, and phosphorus through the urine during a high protein diet and we know that zinc is needed to balance other minerals in the
blood.

In a completely primitive society, an individual receives about 10 percent of their calories from protein, about 10 percent from fat, and about 80 percent from complex (unrefined) carbohydrates. Studies indicate this kind of diet is the easiest for the human body to handle, since both fats and proteins are far more difficult to metabolize than carbohydrates.

Almost 1 00 percent of carbohydrates can be converted to energy during digestion, so they represent the least “expensive” form of body fuel, leaving the smallest amount of waste product. Protein, on the other hand, is an “expensive” fuel, since only 58 percent is available for “burning:' leaving much waste material for your body to dispose. Fats are even more difficult, since only 10 percent can be converted into fuel. So, since the production of heat, the performance of work, and the forerunners for many other nutrients are obtained from carbohydrates, it is plain that they should represent the major portion of food eaten.

Many people have a fear of eating carbohydrates, thinking they will cause weight gain. THIS IS A MISCONCEPTION. It is fats and proteins that stimulate one to become overweight, rather than unrefined carbohydrates. Eating high-carbohydrate foods will not cause you to become overweight unless you eat high-fat and high-protein sauces, gravies, and other foods with them. In fact, if you use a high-carbohydrate diet from natural sources, it is highly unlikely that you will become overweight.

Refined carbohydrates are absorbed rapidly into the blood stream and put a strain on the pancreas, liver, stomach, and other digestive organs, often resulting in imbalanced blood biochemistry. Generally speaking, all refined or concentrated foods should be taken quite sparingly.

The best diet is a very simple one consisting of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Apart from these three food groups, all other foods should be used sparingly. Some nutrients, like salt, should also be used sparingly, however some salt is good for the body we are told.

Do not eat largely of salt, avoid the use of pickles and spiced foods, eat an abundance of fruit, and the irritation that calls for so much drink at mealtime will largely disappear.”  {CD 344.1}

Food should be prepared in such a way that it will be appetizing as well as nourishing. It should not be robbed of that which the system needs. I use some salt, and always have, because salt, instead of being deleterious, is actually essential for the blood.”  {CD 344.2}

Oils should be used sparingly, as they may cause an increased susceptibility to cancer and heart disease. No added protein should be used, and very high protein foods such as animal products should not be used but if you do then use them very sparingly.

Enjoy the foods God gives us in their natural form. Your body will thank you!!!

Essential Oils

You may be asking what does this have to do with health....well it has plenty as we need to have love for others and not be full of hatred as it can affect our health.

This is a great story...

Harry and Eva Morse were on the floor one day, playing with their blocks” while their mother sat near, sewing.

Presently Harry stopped his play, and looking earnestly into the grate, said: “Mamma, you promised to pop some corn next time the fire looked just so. See, there's no black coal and no blaze. Will you, mamma? “

“Please, mamma, do pop some corn,” said little Eva, dropping her blocks.

“Well,” answered Mrs. Morse, “you may go and ask Bridget for the popper and an, ear of corn.”

The children came quickly back, Eva bringing the popper, and Harry the corn and a dish to put it in.

“Mayn't I shake it just a little?” asked Eva.

“No, dear,” replied the mother; “you wouldn't do it fast enough, and the corn would scorch.”

In a few minutes, it began to snap, snap, snap, in a most delightful manner. Eva clapped her hands merrily: “See, mamma,” she cried, “they are turning wrong side out. Hear them laugh! See them jump!”

But Harry was in a brown study. Soon he asked, “Mamma, what makes the corn pop?”

“The heat causes it to swell until its skin cracks open,” answered Mrs. Morse.

The little boy was silent a moment, evidently not satisfied, as he was quite a thinker for an eight year old.

“Mamma,” he said slowly, “there must be something more, or else peas and beans would do the same; and they won't.”

“How do you know?” questioned the mother, laughingly.

“I've tried it. I put two beans on the stove, and kept stirring them with the poker; but they just burned up - didn't pop a bit.”

“Well,” said Mrs. Morse, as she shook the second batch, “there is more than I said; but I didn't know as you would understand. Scientists --- that is, men who study into the “how's and whys” of things - have found that in every perfect kernel of popcorn there is a tiny drop of an essential oil that is highly explosive. This oil is distributed through every particle inside the shining yellow coat. When the corn becomes hot enough, the oil explodes; and, as by shaking the popper the kernel is heated all over alike, every bit of oil explodes at the same instant, cooking the corn as well as changing its shape. You see the result, these delicious, beautiful things; we might call them snowflakes, they are so light and white and fairy-like.”

As the corn was emptied into the dish, Harry noticed two or three unparched kernels.

“Why didn't they pop?” he asked.

“I suppose they are not quite perfect,” was the reply.

“Didn't they have enough essential oil?”

“Probably not,” answered the mother, musingly. Harry's questions had set her to thinking. Soon she called him to come and sit near her: “Do you understand what I said about the corn?” she asked.

“Yes,” was the positive answer. “I understand all about it, and I won't forget.”

“Well, I have been thinking of something else a, little like it. Perhaps we can talk it over, and both get some good. You remember visiting Aunt Hester Wakefleld?”

“I guess I do! Isn't she jolly, though? She likes boys; and she told me stories, and gave me cookies.”

“Yes, she likes boys; but that isn't all. She loves everybody, and has as kind words and sweet smiles for the poorest as for her nearest friends. But there is old Mrs. Cole, who was here yesterday. What do you think of her?”

“I hope she'll never come again!” exclaimed, Harry. “If she does, I'll go and stay in the barn. She's crosser 'n a bear.”

“Did she speak crossly to you?”

“Not exactly to me, but she talked real mean about boys; and her eyes looked as though they'd snap my head off. I don't like her one bit.”

“Aunt Hester and Mrs. Cole were girls together,” continued Mrs. Morse. “They went to the same school and church, and I have heard it said that Mrs. Cole was a livelier girl than Aunt Hester. But they have both had a great deal of trouble. Their husbands and children have died. Aunt Hester is feeble and poor, and Mrs. Cole is very lame. How differently has sorrow affected them!

The Bible compares sorrow to a furnace, and speaks of those who have suffered as having been tried by fire. That reminds us of the popcorn. The heat of sorrow has made Aunt Hester more and more lovely, while poor Mrs. Cole has only grown hard and bitter. Can you tell me why?”

“I guess, said Harry, thoughtfully,” that Aunt Hester has had more essential oil.”

“I guess so, too. And what shall we name it?”

“Goodness?” suggested Harry.

“Let us call it Christliness; for that means love, joy, peace, long-suffering and much more. Aunt Hester loved Jesus when a little girl, that was the starting point.”

“And doesn’t Mrs. Cole love Jesus?”

“I am afraid not. She feels hard toward God for taking away her husband and children.”

Harry's eyes filled with tears as he said, “I am sorry for her. I wish she loved Jesus.”

“The love of Christ will help every one to bear trouble, little children, as well as grown people,” continued Mrs. Morse. “And if we really have that love, all the trials of life will only increase it, and make us more like him. We cannot all be beautiful in face, but we can be beautiful in heart and life.”

“Mamma,” said Harry, solemnly, “I'll pray every day for God to put essential oil into my heart.”

What Does One Do Instead Of Taking Antibiotics?

Below is a list of problems people get taking antibiotics and teaching what you can do naturally instead for the problem.

EARACHE REMEDY:
¼ -½ cup olive oil
6-8 cloves of garlic chopped

***Put the olive oil in a small pot on the stove and turn on flame low, then add the chopped garlic and only keep in long enough until the oil is heated, but garlic is not cooked.do not cook the garlic. Remove from heat and let cool. You can strain the garlic and put this oil in a glass jar and keep in a dark place (somewhere in your cabinet). When needed, dip a cotton ball in the oil and then put 3-4 drops into affected ear. Plug ear with either tissue or small piece of cotton ball.

***CAUTION: DO NOT USE THIS REMEDY IF THE PERSON PUNCTURED THE EAR DRUM (you should find out if they were putting anything in their ear before the pain started)

COLD/FLU REMEDY:
3 Grapefruit (cut in 1/8 ths...squeeze juice into stock pot and put peels in there as well)
2 Onions (chopped in medium sized pieces)
2 Lemons (cut in 1/4 ths; squeeze juice into pot and put peels in the pot as well)
Garlic bulbs (not the small cloves but the whole bulb) peeled and chopped fine
1 t. cayenne pepper
1/2 t. peppermint oil (opt., but highly recommended. Can purchase at Young Living)(internal use kind only)
1/2 tsp Echinacea (optional)
8 c. water

Put all ingredients into a stock pot. Bring to a boil, then turn flame down, cover, and simmer x 10 minutes. Drink 1/2 cup every half hour...
ONE RECIPE IFS FOR ONE PERSON FOR ONE DAY

***CAUTION: Do not use grapefruit if you are on statins (medications for cholesterol), or some blood pressure medication. Use oranges instead if you are not diabetic. If you are diabetic, use 5 lemons.

ANOTHER COLD/FLU REMEDY:
In a large Coffee Mug, more like a soup Mug, put the following:
Juice of two lemons
1/4 - 1/2 t. cayenne pepper
4 garlic cloves chopped
1 inch piece of fresh ginger grated
1 t. Vitamin C powder (if you don't have the powder, give them 1000 mg tablet or capsule the first hour in the morning, then 500 mg every hour x 8 hours
2 drops of Eucalyptus oil (don't worry if you don't have it)
1 T. honey
Fresh squeezed juice of 1/2 grapefruit (optional, but this is great stuff...never give to someone who is on cholesterol meds)

Pour boiling water over this and cover with a saucer for 15 to 20 minutes...and drink...this works like a charm.

STREP THROAT:
¼ c. honey from Trader Joe’s, a Farmer’s Market, or Honey Farm(best not to use raw honey with this recipe)
16 cloves of fresh garlic chopped or mince
1 tsp. cayenne pepper(90,000 heat units….may use store kind, but do 2 tsp., instead of 1)

***Mix the above well. Take ½ tsp. every ½ hour x 12 hours. OR 1 tsp. every hour x 12 hours. In 12 hours, you would have finished the concoction.
***YOU MUST FOLLOW protocol 100% or this will not be effective
***One recipe is for one person for a 12 hr. period

PNEUMONIA/LUNG INFECTIONS:
• Immediately, into 1 ½ inches of water in a small cup, put 1 full dropper of Lobelia Tincture + 2 full droppers of Mullein Tincture.

ALSO Place a couple of drops each of Eucalyptus and Peppermint Oil into a pot of boiling water and stand over inhaling or place a couple drops of each in the HHN (Hand Held Nebulizer).

Also do water treatments to chest/back area where lungs are (10 minutes hot, 3 minutes cold…do 3 rotations).

Also do deep breathing exercises in the open air.

Rub Eucalyptus oil mixed with Olive Oil over chest/back lungs area

One more thing...1 drop of Propolis dropped in a Hand Held Nebulizer (HHN) will help zap the bacteria out.

Also add 2 drops each of eucalyptus oil and peppermint oil with a little water in the handheld nebulizer to do
breathing treatments.

Eat 2 cloves of raw garlic, 2-3 x day.

BRONCHITIS:
Do same as for Asthma
Eat 2-6 large cloves of garlic every day as long as not on any blood thinners

ALL LUNG INFECTIONS:
1 dropperful of Lobelia
2 dropperfuls of Mullein

Put those dropperfuls into 1 ½ inches of warm water in a small cup…Stir in and drink. Do this 2 x day

THIS MAY BE USED FOR ALL BREATHING DIFFICULTIES (tinctures should be non-alcoholic)

ALSO MIX:
½ c. olive oil
3 drops eucalyptus oil
3 drops peppermint oil

Mix together well. Rub over chest and back area (where lungs are) and bottom of the feet. Be sure to put socks on afterwards to keep oil on feet.

TOOTHACHE:
Clove Oil + activated charcoal

Mix 1-2 tsp. activated charcoal with a couple drops of clove oil. Add a few drops of water.

Mix and spread in quarter size piece of gauze, folding the gauze then placing back in infected tooth area

May spread a charcoal paste over the jaw area on the outside of mouth as well

MRSA (AKA Staph Infection)
GARLIC

Juice 1-2 large garlic cloves or mince finely and mix with ¼ to 1/3 c. honey
Apply to affected area
           ALSO
Eat 1 Tbsp. honey 1-2 x day
Eat 2 cloves garlic 2-3 x day
Do this x 7 days

EYE INFECTIONS:
1 fresh Lemon Juice drop in each eye
                 Plus
Charcoal compresses over the eye for 30 minutes 2 x day. Look on YouTube on how to make a charcoal poultice. Use a Bounty Paper Towel to wrap your poultice in.

***FOR ANY INFECTION, EAT 2 LARGE CLOVES OF GARLIC 2-3 X DAY BEST TO MIX RAW GARLIC WITH FOOD AS IT CAN BURN SOME PEOPLE’S STOMACHS

INFECTED DIABETIC ULCER/WOUND:
Immerse in hot water as hot as can be tolerated and soak x 3 minutes.
Switch to very cold water x 30 seconds
Do 5 rotations of this 2 x day (preferably morning + evening)
          PLUS
Apply honey over the affected area

Be sure to only use honey from Trader Joes, a Farmer’s Market, or a Honey Farm, because the pollen has been removed from all other honey, making it non-medicinal, less effective.

***DO NOT USE CAYENNE OR GARLIC IF YOU ARE ON BLOOD THINNERS

***DO NOT EAT GRAPEFRUIT IF YOU ARE ON STATINS

Cream of Tartar

Cream of Tartar is NOT good to consume but here are some things it is good for:

Cream of tartar (potassium bitartrate) is an inexpensive cleaning secret.

This long-forgotten gem of a cleaning agent may be used with a little water or vinegar to lift even the most stubborn stains. Unattractive grout driving you batty? Mold and mildew stains got you reaching for the Prozac? Burner pans and casserole dishes giving you fits? Cream of Tartar is your new best friend.

Cream of tartar is one of nature’s best bleaching agents.

Use a few tablespoons of cream of tartar with hot water or hydrogen peroxide and clean any aluminum pans which have discoloration or any rusty drains, pans, or stains.

Do you have copper kettles? Mix some cream of tarter with lemon juice and rub the copper with it. Rinse and be amazed!

How about a porcelain sink, tub, commode? Rub the porcelain surfaces with cream of tartar and watch the stains disappear.

Fabric stains? No prob. Mix a few teaspoons of cream of tartar with some glycerin and use like spray-and-wash. The results? This stuff will cure the ring around a shirt collar.

Just need a great nonabrasive cleaner? Mix 2 teaspoons of vinegar and 2 teaspoon of cream of tartar in a small dish (use 3 or 4 teaspoons of vinegar and 3 or 4 teaspoons of cream of tartar if you have more items to clean). Apply with your cleaning rag or scrub brush and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Scrub. Wash with hot soapy water.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil, although saturated, is good when used in moderation. The fatty acids in coconut oil are shorter chains of carbon atoms, which makes a difference in the way our body handles them. Saturated fatty acids with 18 carbons (long chains) appear to be the ones that have the negative effect in our body. This type of saturated fat is more abundant in products of animal origin. In fact, some studies seem to show that the real culprit may not be the saturated fat itself but the animal protein that comes along with it. Many authorities in nutrition are proposing that the real culprit and most powerful blood cholesterol elevator is the animal protein.

Who are the people with the highest rates of hypercholesterolemia (a condition characterized by very high levels of cholesterol in the blood)? The ones who eat the typical western diet, high in animal food and refined vegetable oils? Or the inhabitants of the developing countries who eat diets low in animal product and high in coconut and coconut products and oils?

Another point in favor of coconut oil is that because it is saturated and made of medium and short chains of fatty acids it is more stable (resistant to oxidation). It can resist higher temperatures (cooking…but we don’t want to fry anything) and more exposure to light; therefore, it has a longer shelf-life. Whereas vegetable oils, which are long chains of polyunsaturated fatty acids are less stable and more prone to oxidation.

According to many authorities in nutrition, the best oils to use are the monounsaturated ones, like olive oil and avocado oil, and the short chain, saturated coconut oil. The more unsaturated oils (the polyunsaturated vegetable oils) need to be used freshly extracted because they are easily oxidized. Also, the vegetable oils like corn oil, safflower oil, cottonseed oil, etc., are very high in the linoleic fatty acid, which is used by the body to make prostaglandins that favor inflammation, thus increasing the risk of chronic diseases like coronary heart disease, arthritis, cancer, etc.

HEALTH NEWS ~ November

THANKSGIVING will be here SOON, so here is a great recipe to try for the upcoming holiday.

Pumpkin Pie
1-15 or 16oz. can pumpkin
1-12 oz. pkg. tofu, firm or x-firm
1 c. honey
1 t. salt
¾ t. coriander
¼ t. cardamom
1 T. cornstarch (non GMO)

Blend all ingredients until smooth. Pour into unbaked pie shell and bake at 350Āŗ for 1 hour!

How would you like to work all day with no rest OR lie down at night to sleep and then have someone force you to get up and start working?  Well that is what you do to your body when you eat between meals and before bedtime.  Here is what Jesus has to say:

The stomach, when we lie down to rest, should have its work all done, that it may enjoy rest, as well as other portions of the body. The work of digestion should not be carried on through any period of the sleeping hours.” HL 84

The stomach must have careful attention. It must not be kept in continual operation. Give this misused and much-abused organ some peace and quiet and rest. After the stomach has done its work for one meal, do not crowd more work upon it before it has had a chance to rest and before a sufficient supply of gastric juice is provided by nature to care for more food. Five hours at least should elapse between each meal, and always bear in mind that if you would give it a trial, you would find that two meals are better than three.”  CD 173

SNACKS ARE DETRIMENTAL TO HEALTH FOR A NUMBER OF REASONS.

1. They deprive the stomach and other organs of the rest they normally require.

2. They retard digestion and thus give rise to gas and related symptoms.

3. They tend to increase the total calorie intake beyond actual need.

4. Since snacks are high in sugar and simple carbohydrate content, they deprive the body of the necessary elements such as vitamins and minerals found in a balance diet.

5. Snacks tend to lessen the desire and enjoyment of regular meals and thus reduce digestibility.

X-ray studies conducted have determined the emptying time of the stomach is average 4 ½ - 5 hours.  On some studies conducted it showed that after a normal breakfast 4 people were tested.

The 1ST PERSON had an ice cream cone 2 hours after breakfast and had residue in their stomach after 6 hours.

The 2ND PERSON ate a peanut butter sandwich 2 hours after breakfast and after 9 hours had residue in their stomach.

The 3RD PERSON (2 hours after breakfast) ate a ½ slice of bread and butter repeated every 1 ½ hour interval and ate no dinner. After 9 hours more than ½ his breakfast was still in his stomach.

The 4TH PERSON, after breakfast, ate twice in the morning, twice in the afternoon and a bit of candy and 13 ½ hours later more than ½ of the morning meal was still in the stomach!!!

WOW!  This goes to show you that SNACKING IS NOT GOOD. You want your stomach completely emptied before you put more food in it.  It needs a rest too after doing all that work.

When the morning meal is skipped one tends to become hungry before noon and resorts to snacking. The snack slackens the appetite for lunch; less is eaten, but before long, hunger returns.  Snacking in the afternoon becomes the logical solution, and then there is no desire for food at suppertime so it is delayed till later at nite.  This requires the stomach to work during sleeping hours and a restless night follows.

“In many cases the faintness that leads to a desire for food is felt because the digestive organs have been too severely taxed during the day. After disposing of one meal, the digestive organs need rest. At least five or six hours should intervene between the meals.”  CD 173

I am astonished to learn that, after all the light that has been given in this place, many of you eat between meals! You should NEVER LET A MORSEL PASS YOUR LIPS BETWEEN YOUR REGULAR MEALS. Eat what you ought, but eat it at one meal, and then wait until the next.”  TSDF 38

Three meals a day and nothing between meals -- not even an apple -- should be the utmost limit of indulgence. Those who go further violate nature's laws and will suffer the penalty.” R. and H., 1883, No. 19. {HL 86.1}

Food taken into the stomach at untimely seasons leaves an influence on every fiber of the system.” H.R. {HL 86.3}

Often when you think you need to eat; you really only need water. TRY DRINKING WATER instead of those snacks.  Not soda pop or other harmful liquids, but good old water that God created for us.
1 Cor. 10:31 says, Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” How can we be glorifying God when we are not obeying Him?

Wow! Those are really some powerful quotes. God is very clear about NOT eating between meals.  If you quit eating between meals and before bedtime, your body will get the rest it needs and not have to be digesting food all day or all night long. You will definitely feel better if you are well rested.

I pray that God will give you the victory over this as you surrender it to Him.

HAVE A VERY BLESSED AND JOYFUL THANKSGIVING!
