Fenugreek

Fenugreek (also known as methi) is an herb with light green leaves and white flowers and is also a member of the bean family. The plant reaches a height of 0.3 to 0.8 meters and has trifoliate leaves. It has a bitter taste but leaves you smelling sweet like maple syrup (this happened to someone I know). Its leaves and seeds are only used to cure disease, but also to maintain optimum health. It can be taken by mouth or made into a paste to apply externally.

Fenugreek has been known for its positive effects. From heart health to increasing breast milk in a lactating mother. Although, popular for its excellent galactagogue for nursing mothers, fenugreek contains a range of health benefits such as relief from anemia, loss of taste, fever, dandruff, stomach disorder, biliousness, eczema, gout, relief from heartburn and reflux, respiratory disorders, mouth ulcers, sore throat, diabetes, inflammations, wounds, insomnia, helps to increase breast milk, helps with discomfort from the menstrual cycle, supports kidney health, helps to prevent cardiovascular disease, prevents colon cancer, aids in constipation and diarrhea, helps alleviate type 2 diabetes, and reduces cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

Fenugreek is also rich in nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. Such as fiber, B6, iron, protein, folate, manganese, calories, thiamin, copper, carbohydrates, riboflavin, and magnesium. Fenugreek can be purchased as a tea, in vegetable capsules, as a powder, as leaves, or in seed form and is NOT recommended for pregnant women as it can induce uterine contractions.

The use of certain herbs that the Lord has made to grow for the good of man, is in harmony with the exercise of faith. MS31, 1911
