Chia Seeds

Chia Seeds are an amazing superfood that contain numerous health and healing benefits. Chia seeds are a rich source of protein, vitamins E & B-complex and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, boron, zinc, strontium, and iron. Chia Seeds are super-packed with Omega-3s, protein, calcium, iron, zinc, fiber, and antioxidants. THEY ARE HIGHER IN OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS THAN ANY OTHER FOOD and are known to be particularly beneficial for chronic inflammation, heart disease, brain function, cancer, and autoimmune diseases. Chia Seeds contain plenty of protein and a full range of amino acids as well as essential Omega 3 and Omega 6 oils. They also contain plenty of fiber, five times the amount of calcium as an equal amount of cow's milk, twice as much potassium by weight as my favorite fruit, bananas, and triple the amount of antioxidants as blueberries.

Chia seeds are a great “brain food” and they are known to help improve memory, sharpen focus and concentration skills, and reduce brain fog and forgetfulnessChia seeds are incredibly high in antioxidants and can help to prevent certain health conditions such as heart disease, cancer, and strokeThey also contain powerful anti-inflammatory properties which makes them a good food for those who suffer with rheumatoid arthritis, COPD, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, cardiomyopathy, chronic fatigue syndrome, and chronic nerve pain.

Chia seeds are a fantastic food for diabetics since they help to stabilize and control blood sugar levels. They are also an excellent weight loss food due to their high fiber and protein content which can boost the metabolism and promote lean muscle mass.

Chia seeds are known to help soothe and cleanse the colon as well as absorb toxins while strengthening peristaltic action. Chia seeds provides a great source of energy and can help you feel energized with sustaining energy all day long.

After reading about Chia Seeds – chia seeds have become an added factor in my own diet.

ACCORDING TO THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE'S NUTRIENT DATA LAB, A 100-GRAM PORTION OF CHIA SEEDS CONTAINS:

  • 631 milligrams of calcium (100-grams of cow's milk contains 113)
  • 335 milligrams of magnesium (100-grams of broccoli contains 21)
  • 860 milligrams of phosphorus (100-grams of spinach contains 49)
  • Gram for gram, Chia Seeds have 70 percent more protein than soybeans and 25 percent more fiber than flaxseed. Two tablespoons of chia also contain 5.1 grams of omega-3 fatty acids, which support heart health by lowering cholesterol and blood pressure.

You can add 2 T. chia seeds to your food…instant nutrition!

Consider preparing a Chia Pudding by stirring together 3 tablespoons chia seeds and 14 oz. coconut milk and allowing to sit overnight in the refrigerator. In the morning, scoop the pudding into a bowl and top with fresh berries. It is a delicious and satisfying meal that will energize and nourish you.

Chia seeds can be found online or at health food stores and at many supermarkets, including Whole Foods, Costco, BJ’s and Sam’s Club.
