Hello, summer is really going by fast. I decided the recipe for this month would be
a very simple but great tasting dish.
Scalloped Potatoes
9x13 pan of thinly sliced potatoes
1 cup raw cashews, heaping
4 c. water
2 t. real salt
2 t. onion powder
Blend above and pour over potatoes.
Cover with parchment paper and then foil on top of that and bake at 375°
for 1½ hours. Remove foil and paper and sprinkle with paprika. Bake 30 minutes more.
TODAY I WILL BE TALKING ABOUT WATER:
3 John 1:2 –
“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou
mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
Water is nature’s #1 natural source for quenching thirst.
Humans, animals, and plant life alike could not live without it. Each could only live a couple of days without
it, yet on
a daily basis, most Americans are very deficient.
Approximately 85-90% of people do not get enough,
resulting in many of the common ailments of today. Most of these ailments can be helped simply
by increasing the amount of water a person takes in each day as well as
drinking the proper type of water.
If your lips are dry and/or your urine has a yellowish or darker
color, these are two signs that you are already extremely dehydrated. The color should be clear or pale.
THE CHEMISTRY OF WATER
Water is a chemical compound with the chemical formula H2O. It is tasteless, odorless, and without color. It is the basic fluid of all living organisms.
The
human body is 80% water.
WHAT KIND OF WATER?
“I should…DRINK…PURE, SOFT WATER.”
{CD 419.2}
“…if those who are afflicted would assist nature in her
efforts by the USE OF PURE, SOFT WATER,
much suffering would be prevented…” {CH 61.2}
WHAT PURE WATER DOES:
“Pure water to drink and fresh air to
breathe
- invigorate the vital organs
- purify the blood
- help nature in her task of overcoming the bad conditions of the system.” {ML 139.3}
“…PURE WATER… DRUNK FREELY
- helps to supply the necessities of the system
and
- assists nature to resist disease...” (MH 237.1)
PURE SOFT WATER IS ONE OF THE MOST EFFECTIVE REMEDIES FOR
DISEASE:
“…the most effective remedies for disease are pure soft water…”
{MM 225.1}
God
really does want us to be in good health. He gave us so many wonderful good foods to
eat and in so many pretty colors.
Remember to EAT LIKE A RAINBOW
so you are getting ALL the
nutrition your body needs.
Water helps to maintain proper muscle tone by giving muscles their
natural ability to contract and by preventing dehydration.
It also helps to prevent the sagging skin that usually follows weight loss --
shrinking cells are buoyed by water which plumps the skin and leaves it clear,
healthy and resilient.
WATER CAN HELP RELIEVE CONSTIPATION. When the body gets too little water, it siphons what it needs from internal sources. The colon is one primary source. Result? Constipation. But when a person drinks enough water, normal bowel function usually returns.
“Water is the best liquid possible to cleanse the
tissues.”— The Review and Herald, July 29, 1884
Pure air, sunlight, abstemiousness, rest, exercise, proper diet,
the use of water, trust in divine power,—these are
the true remedies. Every person should have a knowledge of nature’s remedial
agencies and how to apply them. It is essential both to understand the principles
involved in the treatment of the sick and to have a practical training that
will enable one rightly to use this knowledge.
In health and in sickness, pure water
is one of Heaven’s choicest blessings. Its proper use promotes health. It is the
beverage which god provided to quench the thirst of animals and man. Drunk freely, it helps to
supply the necessities of the system, and assists nature to resist disease.—The Ministry of Healing, 237
PURE AIR AND WATER,
CLEANLINESS, A PROPER DIET, PURITY OF LIFE, AND A FIRM TRUST IN GOD, ARE REMEDIES FOR THE
WANT OF WHICH THOUSANDS ARE DYING; yet these remedies are going out of
date because their skillful use requires work that the people do not
appreciate. Fresh
air, exercise, pure water, and clean, sweet
premises, are within the reach of all, with but little expense;
but drugs are expensive, both in the outlay of means, and the effect produced
upon the system.—Testimonies for the Church 5:443, 1885
Water can be used in many ways to relieve suffering. Drafts of clear,
hot water taken before eating (half quart, more or
less), will never do any harm, but will rather be productive of good.—Letter 35, 1890
Many make a mistake in drinking cold water
with their meals. Taken with meals, water
diminishes the flow of the salivary glands; and the colder the water, the greater the injury to the stomach.
Ice water or ice lemonade, drunk with meals, will arrest
digestion until the system has imparted sufficient warmth to the stomach to
enable it to take up its work again. Hot drinks are debilitating; and besides, those who indulge in their
use become slaves to the habit. Food should not be washed
down; no drink is needed with meals.
Eat slowly, and allow the saliva to mingle with the food.
The more liquid there is taken into the stomach with the meals, the more difficult it is for the food to digest;
for the liquid must first be absorbed….But if anything is needed to quench thirst, pure water, drunk some little time before or after the meal,
is all that nature requires. Never
take tea, coffee, beer, wine, or any spirituous liquors. Water is the best
liquid possible to cleanse the tissues.”
—The Review and Herald, July 29, 1884
During this hot weather we need to be sure and drink plenty of water. Our body
is 80 % water.
Did you know that 75% OF AMERICANS ARE CHRONICALLY DEHYDRATED? In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is
so weak that it is mistaken for hunger. Even MILD dehydration will slow down
one's metabolism as 3%. One glass of
water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters
studied in a University of Washington study. Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime
fatigue. Preliminary research indicates
that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain
for up to 80% of sufferers. A mere 2%
drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic
math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases
the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by
79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. Are you
drinking the amount of water you should drink every day?
