Mangos

Mangos aren't just exceptionally tasty, they also have incredible healing properties. They help to alkalinize the whole body by helping to flush out toxic acids and rebuild the alkali reserves in the body. They're also packed with enzymes and are a prebiotic food, meaning they contain compounds that stimulate and feed the good bacteria in the intestines which greatly aids in digestion and assimilation.

Mangos are a source of vitamins A, C, E, and B-complex as well as health-promoting flavonoids such as beta-carotene and alpha-carotene. They're also a powerful anti-cancer food and are specifically known to help prevent lung, breast, colon, prostate, blood, and oral cancers. They are also highly beneficial in the prevention of strokes, heart disease, arthritis, cognitive disorders, respiratory diseases, and kidney disease.

Mangos contain a significant amount of pyridoxine (B-6) which is vital for the synthesis of serotonin and dopamine in the brain and is essential in maintaining hormonal balance and proper immune function. Mangoes also help prevent insomnia and provide for better sleep.

HEALTH BENEFITS

1.  Prevents Cancer:
Research has shown antioxidant compounds in mango fruit have been found to protect against colon, breast, leukemia, and prostate cancers. These compounds include quercetin, isoquercitrin, astragalin, fisetin, gallic acid and methylgallat, as well as abundant enzymes.

2.  Lowers Cholesterol:
The high levels of fiber, pectin, and vitamin C help to lower serum cholesterol levelsspecifically Low-Density Lipoprotein (the bad stuff).

3.  Clears the Skin:
Can be used both internally and externally for the skin. Mangos help clear clogged pores and eliminate pimples.

4.  Improves Eye Health:
One cup of sliced mangoes supplies 25 percent of the needed daily value of vitamin A, which promotes good eyesight and prevents night blindness and dry eyes.

5.  Alkalizes the Whole Body:
The tartaric acid, malic acid, and a trace of citric acid found in the fruit help to maintain the alkali reserve of the body.

6. May Help with Diabetes:
Mango leaves help normalize insulin levels in the blood. The traditional home remedy involves boiling leaves in water, soaking them through the night, and then consuming the filtered decoction in the morning. Mango fruit also has a relatively low glycemic index (41-60) so moderate quantities will not spike your sugar levels.

7. Promotes Healthy Sex:
Mangos are a great source of vitamin E. Even though the popular connection between sex drive and vitamin E was originally created by a mistaken generalization in rat studies, further research has shown that balanced proper amounts (from whole foods) do help.

8. Improves Digestion:
Papayas are not the only fruit that contains enzymes for breaking down protein. There are several fruits, including mangoes, which have this healthful quality. The fiber in mangos also helps digestion and elimination.

9. Helps Fight Heat Stroke:
Juicing the fruit from green mango and mixing it with water and a sweetener helps to cool down the body and prevent harm from overheating. From an ayurvedic viewpoint, the reason people often get diuretic and exhausted when visiting equatorial climates is because the strong “sun energy” is burning up your body, particularly the muscles. The kidneys then become overloaded with the toxins from this process.

10. Boosts the Immune System:
The generous amounts of vitamin C and vitamin A in mangos, plus 25 different kinds of carotenoids keep your immune system healthy and strong.

Macadamia nuts are one of the only food sources that contains palmitoleic acid which is known to help speed up fat metabolism and reduce the body’s ability to store fat which ultimately means increased weight loss. Macadamia nuts are also known to help rejuvenate the liver and discourage the craving for alcohol.

Macadamia nuts are gluten-free and are often found in the preparation of gluten-free products as a healthy alternative for those suffering from celiac disease and IBS.

Raw macadamia nuts are ideal for ultimate nutritional benefits and overall health. They have a sweet buttery taste making them an easy addition to your diet or use as a salad topping.

HEALTH BENEFITS

1. Heart Disease
Macadamia nuts are 100% cholesterol-free and are highly beneficial to reduce cholesterol level. These nuts are rich in healthy monounsaturated fats which are said to be cardio protective by reducing cholesterol level and help to clean the arteriesMacadamia also lowers the level of triglycerides, which is a kind of body fat and reduces the risk of coronary disease.

2. Antioxidants
Another health benefit of macadamia comes from their high flavonoid content. Flavonoids, which are found naturally in these plants help to prevent cells from damage and protects from environmental toxinsThese flavonoids convert into antioxidants in our body. These antioxidants search and destroy free radicals and protect our bodies from various diseases and certain types of cancer, which include breast, cervical, lung, prostate, and stomach cancer.

3. Weight Loss
People usually avoid eating macadamia thinking that it is laden with fats and cholesterol. However, the fat in macadamia is monounsaturated fats which promote weight loss. Macadamia nuts are rich in palmitoleic acid, and omega 7 fatty oil that provide building blocks for the enzymes and control the burning of fat and curb the appetite. Palmitoleic acid increases fat metabolism and reduces fat storage. Their fatty acids content makes them an extremely satisfying food, and you will need only a handful to feel satisfied.

4. Proteins
Macadamias contain a significant level of protein, which is an essential component of our diet and forms muscles and connective tissues in our bodies. Proteins are a part of our blood and act positively on our health. They also help to maintain the health of hair, nails and skin.

5. Dietary Fiber
Macadamias contains around 7% of dietary fiber. Dietary fiber comprises of complex carbohydrates and includes many types of soluble and insoluble fiber. Dietary fiber promotes satiety, provides roughage, aids digestion and assist in reducing constipation and several other diseases related to it.

6. Bone Health
Phosphorus in macadamia plays a variety of roles including bone and teeth mineralization, metabolism, absorption and transportation of nutrients. Calcium also helps in the formation of teeth and bones. Manganese in macadamia helps the body to deposit new bone tissue, so that the skeleton stays strong as you age. Omega 3 prevents osteoporosis and reduces the severity of arthritis.

7. Promotes Brain Health
Macadamia promotes the health of the nervous system. Copper in macadamia helps to make neurotransmitters, the chemicals which our brain cell uses to send chemical signals.

8. Provides Oleic Acid
Macadamia nut oil is rich in oleic acid, which plays an important role in the reduction of inflammation and boosting of memory power. It also helps in lowering the symptoms of asthma and the levels of bad cholesterol in the body while increasing HDL (good cholesterol) levels. This fatty acid is also beneficial for skin health as it has superb moisturizing and regeneration properties.

9. Increases Nutrient Absorption Rate
As mentioned earlier, macadamia nut oil has high
monounsaturated fatty acid content. These fatty acids are important for good health as they help in increasing the rate of absorption of nutrients, as well as fat-soluble vitamins in the body.

10. Boosts Bone, Cell, And Tissue Strength
Macadamia nut oil plays a vital role in keeping the bones, cells and tissues of the body strong. This is because of its richness in magnesium. This mineral also provides support to muscle and nerve functions and helps in stabilizing heart rhythm.

11. Provides Optimal Amount of Omega Fatty Acids
According to experts, macadamia nut oil has just the right amount of essential omega fatty acids. It is important for your body to get an even amount of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids as an imbalance can cause health problems such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, arthritis, etc. Studies suggest that consumption of these nuts reduces LDL cholesterol levels considerably. Since these fats are not produced by the body, it is important to gain them through your diet.

12. Prevents TEWL
Another nutrient that macadamia nut oil is rich in is linoleic acid. This is a fatty acid that greatly benefits the skin. It can prevent TEWL, or trans-epidermal water loss, from the delicate tissues of the skin.

13. Absorbs Free Radicals
Macadamia nut oil contains antioxidants such as Squalene and Vitamin E. These antioxidants prevent damage that is caused to the body by the free radicals by absorbing them. Free radicals also have the ability to change DNA. The antioxidants in this oil help in neutralizing the free radicals and prevent life-threatening diseases such as breast, cervical, breast or prostate cancer. They also delay the signs of aging and boost overall health.

14. Provides Hydration
Many factors, including beauty treatments, hot showers, etc. deplete moisture from your hair and skin. To make sure they are healthy, you need to keep them well-hydrated. As mentioned earlier, your body naturally produces palmitoleic acid, but it rapidly gets depleted with age. The omega-7 that macadamia nut oil provides plays a huge role in replenishing palmitoleic acid in your body and keeps your skin and hair hydrated.

15. Delays Skin Aging
The benefits of macadamia nut oil for skin are surplus. Macadamia nut oil has a high content of palmitoleic fatty acids. This is a nutrient that has great skin benefits as it delays the process of cell and skin agingBecause palmitoleic acid gets depleted fast as skin ages, it is important to have this oil. This is one of the reasons why macadamia nut oil is a key ingredient in many anti-aging products.

16. Protects Skin And Hair
The antioxidant properties of macadamia nut oil do not only protect your body from free radicals, but also your skin and hair as well. Your skin and hair are also highly prone to the damage caused by free radicals. The antioxidants in this oil protect your skin and hair from such damage and ensure health from within. You get glowing, youthful skin and strong, lustrous hair.

17. Prevents Hair Breakage
Have you ever used macadamia nut oil for hair? According to experts, macadamia nut oil can keep hair from breaking. It penetrates hair follicles and the scalp and helps in the improvement of hair elasticity and strengthWith so many biological and environmental factors that cause hair breakage, macadamia nut oil is an excellent oil to have to reverse the damage done to your hair.

They are considered to be a wonderful tonic and can help to cleanse and detoxify the entire body. Although lemons have an acidic taste they actually have a very strong alkaline reaction on the body and can help to alkalize blood, cells, lymph, organs, and tissues.

Lemons are known to help destroy putrefactive bacteria in the mouth and intestines which can help alleviate flatulence, indigestion, and constipation. Lemons contain a compound called limonene which is used to dissolve gallstones and kidney stones and can help to fight oral, lung, skin, breast, stomach, and colon cancer.

Lemons are also rich in bioflavonoids which can significantly boost the immune system and reduce inflammation in the body. Lemon juice is known to be particularly beneficial for colds, coughs, sore throats, hiccups, ear infections, fevers, arthritis, heart disease, COPD, atherosclerosis, diabetes, high cholesterol, autoimmune disorders, stroke, and cancer.

Topically, lemon juice is a great remedy for wrinkles, warts, toothaches, corns, sunburns, poison ivy, acne, psoriasis, and as a hair rinse and facial astringent.

A 16 oz. glass of warm lemon water upon waking is an excellent way to hydrate and cleanse the body first thing in the morning.

Add fresh lemon to your water, salads, salad dressings, wraps, hummus, guacamole or any recipe calling for vinegar use lemon instead as vinegar is not healthy. These are just some ways to add this healing and nutritious fruit into your diet.

HEALTH BENEFITS

1. Lemons are alkalizing for the body: Lemons are acidic to begin with but they are alkaline-forming on body fluids helping to restore balance to the body’s pH.

2. Lemons are rich in vitamin C and flavonoids that work against infections like the flu and colds.

3. Your liver loves lemons: “The lemon is a wonderful stimulant to the liver and is a dissolvent of uric acid and other poisons, liquefies the bile,” says Jethro Kloss in his book Back to EdenFresh lemon juice added to a large glass of water in the morning is a great liver detoxifier.

4. Cleans your bowels: Lemons increase peristalsis in the bowels, helping to create a bowel movement thus eliminating waste and helping with regularity. Add the juice of one lemon to 16 oz. warm water and drink first thing in the morning.

5. Scurvy is treated by giving one to two ounces of lemon juice diluted with water every two to four hours. In 1747, a naval surgeon named James Lind cured scurvy with fresh lemons. To this day, the British Navy requires ships to carry enough lemons so that every sailor could have one ounce of juice a day.

6. The citric acid in lemon juice helps to dissolve gallstones, calcium deposits, and kidney stones.
Love This? Never Miss Another Story.

7. Vitamin C in lemons helps to neutralize free radicals linked to aging and most types of disease.

8. The lemon peel contains the potent phytonutrient tangeretin, which has been proven to be effective for brain disorders like Parkinson’s disease.

9. In India, Ayurveda medicine values the lemon as a fruit and for its properties. It is sour, warm, promoter of gastric fire, light, good for vision, pungent and astringent.

10. It destroys intestinal worms.

11. When there is insufficient oxygen and difficulty in breathing(such as when mountain climbing) lemons are very helpful. The first man to reach the top of Mt. Everest, Edmund Hillary, said that his success on Mt. Everest was greatly due to lemons.

12. Lemons have powerful antibacterial properties; experiments have found the juice of lemons destroy the bacteria of malaria, cholera, diphtheria, typhoid and other deadly diseases.

13. Blood vessels are strengthened by the vitamin P (bioflavinoids) in lemon thus prevents internal hemorrhage. Also, making it useful in treating high blood pressure.

14. The symptoms of eye disorders, including diabetic retinopathy have been shown in research to improve due to the rutin, found in lemons.

15. Lemons contain 22 anti-cancer compounds, including naturally occurring limonene; oil which slows or halts the growth of cancer tumors in animals and flavonol glycosides which stop cell division in cancer cells.

16. According to The Reams Biological Ionization Theory (RBTI), the lemon is the ONLY food in the world that is anionic (an ion with a negative charge). All other foods are cationic (the ion has a positive charge.) This makes it extremely useful to health as it is the interaction between anions and cations that ultimately provides all cell energy.

Lemon Peel Benefits: Why You Shouldn’t Throw Out That Lemon Peel

The health benefits of lemons and lemon juice are pretty well known. But if you’re like the majority of people, you are probably squeezing out the lemon juice and tossing the left over lemon peel in the trash.

But wait, wait, wait, that lemon peel contains even more nutrients, vitamins, and health benefits than lemon juice.

NUTRIENTS AND HEALTH BENEFITS
IN LEMON PEELS

Lemon peels contain about 5 to 10 times more vitamins than lemon juice. Yep, that’s what you’ve been wasting!

Lemon peels are also an excellent source of fiber, potassium, magnesium, calcium, folate, and beta-carotene.

Lemon peels improve bone health too. Since lemon peels contain high amounts of calcium and vitamin C, lemon peels have been shown to aid in preventing osteoporosis, inflammatory polyarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis.

Don’t forget all the fiber you will get from lemon peels. Just 3.5 oz. of lemon peels contains 10.6 grams of fiber.

LEMON PEELS REDUCE OXIDATIVE STRESS

We all want to reduce our levels of oxidative stress. Lemon peels contain citrus bioflavonoids which are very powerful at reducing your levels of oxidative stress. Lemon peels also aid in eradicating toxic elements in the body and removing carcinogenic elements.

LEMON PEELS HELP FIGHT CANCER

Lemons have been used to prevent and treat cancer. Lemons are anti-microbial and ward off bacterial infections and fungi.

When lemon peels are consumed, they have been shown to prevent various types of cancers, including skin cancer, colon cancer, and breast cancer.

A study found that the consumption of lemon peels in tea was beneficial in preventing the development of cancer cells.

Lemons are also very alkalizing. Cancer thrives in an acidic body, making your body alkaline will prevent cancer. Take advantage of the whole lemon and don’t just juice and toss.

Lemon peels contain salvestrol Q40 and limonene, which have been shown to prevent and treat cancer. These components fight against present cancerous cells in the body.

HOW TO EAT A LEMON PEEL

There are a couple different ways you can prepare your lemon peels.

1. Place your lemons in the freezer for a couple of hours. Then take them out and grate them. You can sprinkle the grated lemon peel on your meals or in your water.

2. Grind your lemon peel (without freezing).  Sprinkle the lemon peel pieces on your meals or in your water. Or you could just bite right into one.

Grated lemon peels make a great addition to salads and tea. They add amazing flavor to any meal.

Kale

KALE is a nutritionally packed leafy vegetable that contains incredible healing and rejuvenating properties. Kale is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, chlorophyll, amino acids, vitamins A, C, E, K, B-complex and minerals such as iron, magnesium, copper, and potassium. Kale is an anti-cancer powerhouse and contains phytochemicals such as glucosinolates that help protect the body from breast, colon, prostate, ovarian, and bladder cancer.

These glucosinolates are also known to detox the body on genetic level and have the ability to literally transform your body and health. KALE also contains an exceptionally high amount of antioxidants such as carotenoids and flavonoids which are essential for protecting the body from degenerative diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, prostatitis, osteoporosis, and neurological disorders.

KALE contains an organic sulfur which has potent antibiotic, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties that work to boost to the immune system and provide significant benefits for chronic inflammation and oxidative stress seen in conditions such as fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic sinusitis, chronic fatigue syndrome, COPD, and irritable bowel disease. Kale also contains isothiocyanates which have been shown to help protect the stomach from H. Pylori bacteria.

KALE is part of the Brassica vegetable family which is known to mildly stimulate the liver and other tissues and organs out of stagnancy. Purple kale is a mild, sweeter variety of kale that is a delicious and beautiful addition to any meal. Purple kale, cooked, is excellent to add to your, salad, or eat as a plain vegetable.

Kale is a Vegan's T-Bone steak, “the queen of greens” and “a nutritional powerhouse” that is the life force from the earth.

Kale is low in calorie, high in fiber and has zero fat. Like protein, fiber is a macronutrient, which means we need it every day. But many Americans don’t eat nearly enough and the deficiency is linked to heart disease, digestive disorders and cancer. Protein-rich foods, like meat, contain little to no fiber. One serving of kale not only contains 5 percent of the recommended daily intake of fiber, but it also provides 2 grams of protein.

One cup of kale has only 36 calories, 5 grams of fiber and 0 grams of fat. It is great for aiding in digestion and elimination with its great fiber content. It’s also filled with so many nutrients, vitamins, folate and magnesium as well as those listed below.

Kale is high in iron. Per calorie, kale has more iron than beef. Iron is essential for good health, such as the formation of hemoglobin and enzymes, transporting oxygen to various parts of the body, cell growth, proper liver function and more. Despite the myth that vegetarians are anemic, the number of non-vegetarians with iron-deficiencies is on the rise. Per calorie, kale has more iron than beef.

Kale is high in Vitamin K. Eating a diet high in Vitamin K can help protect against various cancers. It is also necessary for a wide variety of bodily functions including normal bone health and the prevention of blood clotting. Also increased levels of vitamin K can help people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

Kale is filled with powerful antioxidants. Antioxidants, such as carotenoids and flavonoids help protect against various cancers.

Kale is a great anti-inflammatory food. One cup of kale is filled with 10% of the RDA of omega-3 fatty acids, which help, fight against arthritis, asthma, and autoimmune disorders. Inflammation is the number one cause of arthritis, heart disease and a number of autoimmune diseases, and is triggered by the consumption of animal products. Kale is an incredibly effective anti-inflammatory food, potentially preventing and even reversing these illnesses.

Kale is great for cardiovascular support. Eating more kale can help lower cholesterol levels.

Kale is high in Vitamin A. Vitamin A is great for your vision, your skin as well as helping to prevent lung and oral cavity cancers.

Kale is high in Vitamin C. This is very helpful for your immune system, your metabolism and your hydration.

Kale is high in calcium. Per calorie, kale has more calcium than milk, which aids in preventing bone loss, preventing osteoporosis, and maintaining a healthy metabolism. Vitamin C is also helpful to maintain cartilage and joint flexibility.  Dairy and beef both contain calcium, but the U.S. still has some of the highest rates of bone loss and osteoporosis in the world. Kale contains more calcium per calorie than milk (90 grams per serving) and is also better absorbed by the body than dairy.

Kale is a great detox food. Kale is filled with fiber and sulfur, both great for detoxifying your body and keeping your liver healthy. No matter if you throw kale into your salads, steam it along with cauliflower and broccoli, or dehydrate it into kale chips-- kale has all the elements of a prefect food; antioxidants, protein, calcium, enzymes and an abundance of vitamins.

Kale contains Omega fatty acids: Essential Omega fats play an important role in our health, unlike the saturated fats in meat. A serving of kale contains 121 mg of omega-3 fatty acids and 92.4 mg of omega-6 fatty acids.

Kale provides great Immunity: Superbugs and bacteria are a serious risk to our health. Many of these come as a result of factory farm meat, eggs and dairy products. Kale is an incredibly rich source of immune-boosting carotenoid and flavanoid antioxidants including vitamins A and C.

Kale is Sustainable: Kale grows to maturity in 55 to 60 days versus a cow raised for beef for an average of 18-24 months. Kale can grow in most climates and is relatively easy and low impact to grow at home or on a farm. To raise one pound of beef requires 16 pounds of grain, 11 times as much fossil fuel and more than 2,400 gallons of water.

HEALTH BENEFITS

1. ANTI-INFLAMMATORY

Arguably the most beneficial property of eating kale is its ability to be a powerful anti-inflammatory agent. When you consider the ideal omega-3: omega-6 ratio, kale is the “perfect food.”

2. ANTIOXIDANT

Going hand-in-hand with its anti-inflammatory potency, kale is a marvelous antioxidant food. Of the three main antioxidant vitamins in the world, kale is particularly rich in vitamin C and beta-carotene (the precursor to vitamin A). This is important because antioxidants are known to counteract the damage caused by free radicals.

3. DETOXIFICATION

One of the top health benefits of kale is that it is a natural detoxifier. It not only helps remove toxins but also helps eliminate them from your body.

This is due to a component in kale called isothiocyanates (ITCs) which are made from glucosinolates. They have been reported to help detox your body at the cellular level.

These ITCs are a powerful “one-two punch” against toxins and free radicals. Toxins in our environment, such as processed foods, pollutants, pesticides, and pharmaceuticals increase the toxic level of the body and increase the chance of disease.

So, removing the toxins from your body is an important job. Toxins are destroyed first by antioxidants, and then removed (detoxified) with glucosinolates.

4. HEART SUPPORT

Deirdre Orceyre, a naturopathic physician at the Center for Integrative Medicine at the George Washington University Medical Center, says that, “Any vegetable that has a very deep color the way kale does, that means there is a high concentration of nutrients, and that translates into a range of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects in the body.” This powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory duo in kale make it a perfect food for heart health.

5. BRAIN DEVELOPMENT IN INFANTS

Another one of the key health benefits of kale is its ability to help in infant brain development in the womb. Kale is a valuable source of folate. So, eating kale regularly can help prevent several birth defects and promotes:

Adequate birth weight.

Healthy neural tube formation.

Proper development of the face and heart.

This is extremely important information for all women of childbearing age because most doctors push folic acid supplementation, which is a synthetic version of naturally occurring folate that has been linked to:

  • Vitamin B12 deficiency
  • Epilepsy
  • Changes in sex drive
  • Lack of focus
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Emotional ups and downs

6. CANCER PREVENTION

Like all of cancer-fighting cruciferous vegetables, kale has been shown to stop cancer in its tracksStudies have shown, for example, that more than 70% of all research conducted on cruciferous vegetables has found that they protect against cancer.

7. HEALTHY VISION

Another one of the amazing health benefits of kale is it can improve your eyesightTwo nutrients that give kale its dark green hue, lutein and zeaxanthin, have been shown to help prevent macular degeneration and cataracts._
