Women Should Be Taking Care Of Women


“In the medical missionary work to be done, women should give treatment to women. A man and his wife who are both physicians can accomplish great good by laboring together. The wife can visit other women, and when she finds suffering and disease, she can consult with her husband as to the best method of helping the sufferers. We should have more women physicians than we have. When women who are sick are treated and cared for by women, a door through which Satan tries to enter is closed against him. Many cases have been presented to me where Satan has entered through this door to ruin families. Let him not obtain any advantage upon any point.”  {MM 140.3} 

It is not in harmony with the instructions given at Sinai that gentlemen physicians should do the work of midwives. The Bible speaks of women at childbirth being attended by women, and thus it ought always to be. Women should be educated and trained to act skillfully as midwives and physicians to their sex. It is just as important that a line of study be given to educate women to deal with women's diseases, as it is that there should be gentlemen thoroughly trained to act as physicians and surgeonsAnd the wages of the woman should be proportionate to her services. She should be as much appreciated in her work as the gentleman physician is appreciated in his work.

Let us educate ladies to become intelligent in the work of treating the diseases of their sex. They will sometimes need the counsel and assistance of experienced gentlemen physicians. When brought into trying places let all be led by supreme wisdom. Let all bear in mind that they need and may have the wisdom of the Great Physician in their work.

We ought to have a school where women can be educated by women physicians, to do the best possible work in treating the diseases of women.”  CH 365.2-CH 366.2

Wild Or Farm Fish


NEITHER!!!

In many places fish become so contaminated by the filth on which they feed as to be a cause of disease. This is especially the case where the fish come in contact with the sewage of large cities. The fish that are fed on the contents of the drains may pass into distant waters and may be caught where the water is pure and fresh. Thus when used as food they bring disease and death on those who do not suspect the danger.”   {CCh 229.6}

Wild fish better known as farm fish STILL HAVE TRACES OF MERCURY in them since they still come from the same source.....THE OCEAN!

Farmed fish can also absorb PCBs and dioxins, as the near-shore waters they occupy are the first stop for run-off from land-based sources of pollution. And the fact that their primary feed source comes from conventionally grown terrestrial crops means that their diets can include trace amounts of pesticides and herbicides as well.

Also, most farmed fish are exposed to dose after dose of antibiotics to keep diseases and pests at bay in their crowded underwater pens, much in the way “factory farmed” land animals are drugged to help them cope with cramped, unsanitary conditions. In fact, studies have shown that farm-raised fish have more toxins overall than their wild-caught cousins, though exceptions of course do exist.”  {Scientific American.com}

A 2003 report from the Environmental Working Group showed that farmed salmon in the U.S. has the highest levels of PCBs, toxic man-made chemicalsAnd a widely publicized study in the journal Science in January 2004 suggested that farmed Atlantic salmon had higher levels of PCBs and other toxics than wild Pacific salmon. Amid public concern, the importation of farmed Atlantic salmon to the United States went down by 20 percent in early 2004. But subsequent research has found that the health benefits of both farmed and wild salmon exceed potential risks.” {Eric Rimm, associate professor of epidemiology and nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health}

THE TRUTH IS..... FARMED FISH receive a diet that often consists of smaller fish, such as sardines, and if they eat contaminated food, the fish themselves RETAIN THAT TOXICITY. There's a long list of industrial chemicals we find commonly in wild-caught fish, but a few of these are particularly problematic:

Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCB's) haven't been used in the developed world since the 1970's, but they continue to persist in our environment. PCB's have been shown to be teratogenic (interfere with fetus development), suppress immune function and disrupt thyroid balance.

Heavy metals (mercury is the most common) are released into our environment through a number of industrial processes, coal-burning power plants being the #1 source. Even in low concentrations (levels equivalent to eating contaminated fish), mercury has been shown to have neurotoxic effects. Children exposed to EPA-determined “safe” levels of mercury show measurably impaired motor development.

Farmed fish are generally fed cheap “feed pellets of which discarded fish byproducts are a primary ingredient. The fish byproducts used in feed pellets often come from larger fish than the farmed fish would eat in the wild, so the farmed fish are effectively eating above their “natural” trophic level. The result is an increased accumulation of toxins compared to wild fish of the same species.

The truth is....no matter if it's wild caught or farm raised, they both are DANGEROUS and highly TOXIC.

Why You Absolutely Need To Stop Wearing Shoes In Your House


Have you ever been to someone’s home and they have all the shoes by the front door outside of the house?

I know many families who do this. I always found it interesting, personally considering growing up not many of my friends and family kept all the shoes outside. Most people I know take their shoes off at the door but some people choose to wear shoes in their home. Why would you wear shoes in your homeIt’s beyond me! It’s more comfortable to be stocking foot or wear house slippers.

Some information I found online is worth sharing though. The University of Houston did a study and found that 39% of shoes contained bacteria C. diff (otherwise known as Clostridium difficile), this is a public health threat that is now also resistant to a number of antibiotics. C. diff infections can cause multiple health conditions such as bad diarrhea which can also progress to colon inflammation and further serious health problems, especially if it doesn’t respond to antibiotic treatment effectively.


In another study done by the University of Arizona 9 different forms of bacteria were found on the bottom of shoes. Good Morning America did a test and found that the bottom of shoes were dirtier than toilet seats!!! Furthermore, Dr. Charles Gerba, a microbiologist and professor at the University of Arizona did a test with a brand new pair of shoes and found that within just two weeks of wearing a new shoe 440,000 units of bacteria were found on the shoe. An astonishing 27% of that total bacteria were deadly E Coli. Klebsiella pneumonia was also found, which can lead to and cause pneumonia and wound and bloodstream infections and another type of infection called Serratia ficaria, which can lead to infection of the respiratory tract. Shoes are contaminated from diverse sources, and we are regularly contaminating our doorsteps by shoes,” says study author M. Jahangir Alam, Ph.D.

 

The Clostridium difficile is only the tip of the iceberg though because only 4 out of 10 people have this on their shoes. There are many different types of bacteria that get into your home from your shoe. For example, most public restroom floors contain around 2 million bacteria per square inch (interestingly enough the average toilet seat only contains about 50 per square inch). These are two very good reasons to avoid wearing shoes in your home at all. If you have young kids who crawl around on the floor all day (whether 2 years old or 4 years old) it’s even more important to not wear your shoes inside your home. Children 2 and under should NOT be playing on floors that shoes have been walked on. It is best to leave your shoes outside the home if you have a one or two year old child.


What’s interesting is that many countries like eastern and/or Asian leave their shoes completely outside their home with that door closed so you cannot even see shoes in the home. A great idea is to leave them at the front door or in the garage by the door to avoid bringing any unwanted bacteria or germs in the home. What’s worse is that many will be barefoot in our homes (especially during the summer time) and to wear your shoes in your home even just once or a few times if you forgot something and are in a rush can potentially bring this dangerous bacteria in your home. Avoid it and do your best to keep the shoes outside for your health and safety.

 

Not only do shoes contain bacteria but they also contain germs, chemicals and oil or petroleum by-products. The bottom of your shoes are full of plenty of chemicals and pathogens that you do not want to spread all over your home then walk barefoot on later.

 

It’s uncommon in western countries such as America and Canada for guests to ask to remove your shoes at the door but most cultures around the world ask that you leave your shoes at the door. It will help keep those germs and bacteria out, as well as bacteria C. diff which can be more dangerous. Taking your shoes off at the door is a sign of respect for your home and the home of guests. In many religious traditions shoes are removed for prayer and entering the home. Shoes carry many germs and bacteria and it’s best to leave the outside world just outside your door along with your shoes.

 

Let’s recap, what’s on the bottom of your shoes? Fecal matter, multiple forms of bacteria causing fecal matter as well as infections and inflammation of the colon, germs, chemicals, petroleum and so much more! Where are you going to leave your shoes from now on?

 

And maybe you’ll rethink that 5-second rule (or 5 BECOMING a 10-second rule) of dropping food on the floor and picking it up to eat it next time.

Why Not Alcohol?


If you had a dog that bit out one out of every four people who came to your house would you keep it?

About one in five people who use alcohol for social or recreational purposes become alcohol dependent for part of their lives. In the US about 30% of those who drink alcohol do so excessively, and excessive drinking is the third leading direct cause of death killing 75,000 people a year.

Alcoholism constitutes the number one drug problem in America. Alcoholic beverages are legal, socially accepted, and relatively inexpensive, but they are not harmless.

Alcohol molecules are tiny and soluble in both fat and water. They easily permeate almost all parts of the body.  Alcohol irritates the lining of the digestive tract and increases the risk of oral and liver cancer, stomach ulcers, pancreatitis, and gastritis. A large-scale analysis showed that women having two or more drinks a day increased their risk for breast cancer by as much as 41%.

At low doses alcohol acts as a stimulant and lessens inhibition but it is classified as a depressant because at moderate to high doses it actually depresses brain activity. Even one drink can cause reactions to slow, clouding judgment, increasing mistakes and not recognizing that they are making them.

Perhaps that is why alcohol is linked to 40% of industrial injuries and 50% of all driving fatalities. The brains frontal lobes, the centers for emotions and planning are especially susceptible to alcohol damage.

Quitting alcohol helps the brain to recover often with marked improvement in two years. Alcohol can damage brain tissue, even in socially acceptable amounts.

A number of studies indicate that light to moderate amounts of red wine consumption lower the risk of heart attack and fatal heart disease. However, there are also numerous studies that question the extent of red wines benefits or question if the benefits outweigh the risks. I say the risk outweighs the benefit or we would not be told to leave it alone in the Bible and SOP.

Proverbs 20:1 – Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

“Tea, coffee, tobacco, and ALCOHOL we must present as sinful indulgencestea, coffee, tobacco, beer, wine, and all spirituous liquors--are not to be taken moderately, but discarded.” 3SM 287 (1881) {LDE 81.1} 

 The Adventist health study has shown that a diet rich in antioxidants and dietary fiber from fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and beans, plus regular exercise improves heart and immune function, lowers stress, high blood pressure, stroke, dementia and cancer risk. It also adds years of quality life without the risk of brain and organ damage cancer and addiction linked alcohol.

Articles on the so-called French paradox touting alcohols heart health benefits have been widely published, but British research has found no evidence that drinking red wine provides any protection against heart disease. Death rates from ischemic heart disease and the French were linked to their low consumption of saturated fat in the past and high consumption of more healthful fats for more than 30 years.

In addition, some illnesses considered to be cardiovascular in Britain are not considered to be cardiovascular diseases in France, thus seriously skewing study results. Important reviews have shown serious and substantiated flaws in studies that suggest drinking is healthier than nondrinking.

A 21 year study of nearly 6,000 Scottish drinking men showed that there was no clear relation between alcohol consumption and death from coronary heart disease - but there was double the risk of stroke when moderate drinkers were compared with nondrinkers.

 In addition, researchers concluded that drinking even small amounts had no increased health benefit.

In fact, at levels commonly seen in social drinking, even levels being safe for driving alcohol prompts a sharp increase in destructive free radical activity linked to a wide array of chronic diseases, including liver and heart disease.

Finally, according to Dr. Robert Superko, director of the cholesterol genetics and heart disease Institute in Berkeley CaliforniaThe cardiovascular benefits of alcohol have been greatly overstated. He calls heart health studies with alcohol quite biased and that insight to the considerable role alcohol plays in the alarming obesity epidemic in the United States, he says that a highly unflattering picture of alcohols cardiovascular effects emerges. Indeed, alcohol avoidance, along with increased physical activity, and the elimination of simple sugars from the diet, ought to be at the core of any strategy to reduce the obesity problems.

Alcohol is very calorie dense; one glass of wine contains as many calories as a Snickers candy bar, about as many as burned in a 1 mile walk.

DID JESUS DRINK ALCOHOL? Jesus did drink wine, the pure blood of the grape, or fresh grape juice. It was no tailgate party at the wedding feast in Cana where He turned hundreds of gallons of water into sweet fresh juice. Such succulent beverages were highly prized among the ancients and had the blessing of God. As the new wine is found in the cluster do not destroy it for a blessing is in it.

Our word for wine always means a fermented beverage, but the Greek word for wine can mean either fermented or unfermented juice. The Scriptures warn us that alcohol attacks the user with a vengeance and at the last has the death bite of a poisonous viper.

For optimum heart health, you may want to grab the grapes. Plant compounds in grapes are thought to be one main source of benefit because they may dilate blood vessels apart from the alcohol.

So here's the latest word from the grapevine. The pure blood of the grape the unfermented juice with its blessing in the wholesome cluster is undoubtedly the safest, wisest, and most wholesome way to receive the health promoting benefits of grapes.
